"The older I get, the faster I was." It's uncertain who first gets credited for that quote, but there' a fair chance it was a retired racer of some ilk. Todd Rittenhouse claims he's retired, about as retired as a team owner can be - Todd's Performance, homed in Norristown, Pennsylvania, is after all his team.

"Up until last year I was the crew chief on the car but I retired from that position at the end of 2009." The car Rittenhouse alludes to is the is number 5G sprint car that won last weekend at Delaware Speedway in Georgetown, Delaware. Driving the 5G was Curt Michaels.

Rittenhouse was crew chief on the 5G for nearly ten years, starting back in 2001. The car is owned by Bill Gallagher and the new crew chief this year is Sean Michael.

"I have been on K&N's sponsorship program for something like six or seven years, and they have given us the products to keep us winning championships, and races with consistent top-five finishes with many different drivers, with Curt being the best of course," adds Rittenhouse.

This was Curt's second win of the year, with the first win coming at the Lincoln Speedway in Hanover, Pennsylvania. "The last championship we won was in 2008 and last year we were fourth in the point standings with URC (United Racing Company)," says Rittenhouse.

Delaware Speedway is located on U.S. Route 113, about 1 mile south of Georgetown. During the course of a season attendance at the track gets boosted many nights by fans streaming in via ferry from New Jersey. The track has been known to rock. After sitting silent for a number of years the speedway was recently reopened in May 2006, much to the delight of fans from at least two states.

"Also coming out of this shop is a car run by my son, Todd Rittenhouse Jr. who is also on the K&N program," says Rittenhouse. "This program is shared with the 5G, and he runs 358 sprint cars at Williams Grove Speedway, and 410 sprint cars mainly at Lincoln Speedway. This year he captured a heat and a feature win in the 358 division at Lincoln back in June."

Although Todd is still a relative new-comer he's already establishing quite a fan base with his friendly demeanor and driving flair.

"Up next for us is hopefully winning the URC championship with Curt, and continuing a successful season with the number 23 of Todd Jr.," comments Rittenhouse, adding, "We could not have accomplished this without the great support and products from the people at K&N."

After the feature win at Delaware Speedway the 5G is leading the URC points standings by 31 points.
