Late Model racecar driver Ray Cook from Brasstown, North Carolina and the D&R Motorsports team successfully defended last years Bama Bash victory by sweeping it this year. This was the first victory of 2010 for the team and winning at the Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, Alabama delivered a huge surge of confidence to the team.

"It felt really great to get back to victory lane so early in the 2010 season," commented Cook. "We won this race last year and really put a lot of time in getting ready for this event. It is hard to repeat with a win in these big shows from one year to the next. We are so grateful to do so."

The Southern Regional Racing Series (SRRS) sanctioned the annual running of the Bama Bash for the first time and a stellar field of 54 cars descended upon Green Valley Speedway for the $10,000 to win event.

"I definitely think it will help me and our race team with momentum going into this weekends Lucas Oil Series races," says Cook. "We had a great year last year running the Lucas Oil Series, with five wins, and hope to win some of those races again this year. This is the best dirt Late Model series in the country and the competition is intense. The Tennessee (ultra-fast Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee) racetrack has been better to us in the past, but we are hopeful we can do well at both of them."

Cook went on to win the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned Spring Thaw 60 putting himself in the Lucas Oil Victory Lane for the first time in 2010.  His season has definately started on the right track.  Next the team moves to the second round of the Lucas Oil Series at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina.

"We have a great relationship with K&N. I am so thankful to everyone at K&N for their support over the years. We have been with the company since 1998, I think, I know it's been a long time anyway. It just seems like we've always used their oil and air Filters, and all the cleaning and spray lubricants that go with them."

For the D&R Motorsports team and Cook plans for the rest of the 2010 race season are simple and pretty much the same as last year – to race as much as they possibly can. "Last year we ran 71 races and we will be close to that this year, if something doesn't happen with the weather, or whatever. You never know in racing. We plan on running the complete Lucas Oil Series schedule, plus all the other main events throughout the year," concludes Cook.
