Rob Foster of Scottsdale, Arizona had a solid run at the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge GT series at Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. With a career-best sixth-place finish, Foster won both the Piloti Rookie of the Race as the top finishing rookie and the Sunoco Hard Charger Award for moving up eight spots from his 14th starting slot.

“I have been racing for about 5-years-now,” said Foster. “I met Mike McCann at the Viper Racing League and he invited me to join his team. It’s the best private team out there and I’m looking forward to running the whole season with them.”

McCann led the race for 19 of 21 laps only to come in third. Ron Fellows made a pass two turns before the finish of the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge GT race for his first win of the year. McCann said he made the mistake of grabbing the wrong gear and Tommy Archer moved by to finish second.

“Mike McCann is the overall series point leader,” said Foster. “I’m 7th in Speed World Challenge Drivers point standings.”

Foster said he enjoyed driving his Viper on  the Long Beach Grand Prix street course. “It’s very intense having all that concrete around you,” he said.

Even though Foster has only raced Vipers for 5 years, he’s used K&N Engineering products for 20 years. “I’ve been using K&N filters in my quads, trucks and ATVs well before I entered racing,” said Foster. “K&N products work great on all my toys and when I’m racing. K&N filters keep dust and debris out of my engine and produce more horsepower.”

Foster said he is excited about the next race of the SCCA SPEED GT Challenge series in May.
