K&N is proud to have sponsored and supported WORKS in their 2006 Redline Time Attack win in Modified Class. Time Attack, a racing format brought over from Japan, pits the top tuner cars and privateers against the clock in timed lap sessions on a road course with the fastest time in each class taking top honors. This year's event, hosted by Redline and Toyo Tires on California Speedway's infield road course, saw the biggest names in racing pushing their drivers and equipment to the limit in the hopes of securing victory.

This is the second consecutive Attack victory for WORKS, a Mitsubishi Performance Manufacturer and Engineering outfit from San Francisco, California that won the Super Street Magazine Time Attack event in 2005. The WORKS Lancer Evo 8 secured this latest victory despite doing battle with an uncooperative turbo oil fitting that prevented them from running on track during practice and qualifying laps for nearly the entire event. Tensions in the pit ran high as the WORKS team worked frantically to reassemble the engine after removing the exhaust manifold, turbocharger, and other engine accessories to remedy the failed fitting. With just minutes to go before final call and one timed lap to register an official time, the WORKS Evo ran a blistering 1:11:238 with driver Dave Brown, beating the times of the DynoComp 2005 Sti - Richard Garcia with 1:11.738; BRS Autodesign 1994 RX-7 - Alex Pfieffer with 1:12.347; and JIC MAGIC Porsche 911 Turbo with Tanner Faust 1:12.518.

"WORKS is pleased to have K&N on our side. K&N provided the products and support that we relied on for the winning edge in Time Attack," said Pete Kang, WORKS founder and CEO.

The WORKS Evo ran a titanium topped K&N cone filter that gave the 505 horsepower Mitsubishi Evo 8 the critical air flow it needed to earn its place at the top of its class.
