David Rampy won in Competition Eliminator and Stock at the Checker Schuck’s Kragen NHRA Nationals in Phoenix, Arizona. It was his 60th NHRA national event with the Stock victory, but he doubled up in Comp to get his 61st. This is the second time that David has doubled in his last four events.

David uses K&N Engineering’s dragster scoop (100-8505) on his comp car. It runs a Chevy 316 cubic inch motor using Chevrolet splayed valve cylinder heads in an aurora engine block.

“The K&N dragster scoop is killer,” said David. “I’ve used others and they don’t work as well as the K&N dragster scoop. The smaller opening seems to be better aerodynamically.”

The 50-year-old Piedmont, Alabama resident said his serious racing began in the late 1970s. He emerged on the scene and became one of the premier two-class threats.

In Stock David drives a 1967 Chevrolet Camaro with a 350 motor. “I use a K&N air filter and it keeps the dirt out,” he said. “It is simple to take off and put back on when I’m in a hurry.”

David is looking forward to the Gatornationals. “Everything is working good,” he said. “I can’t wait.”
