NASCAR Drive for Diversity Opportunity for K&N Development Driver
K&N Development Driver Caitlin Shaw was selected to participate in the 2008 NASCAR Drive for Diversity and Evaluation Combine. The Albuquerque, New Mexico teen had the opportunity to showcase her skills before NASCAR team owners. If selected, Shaw will compete with the Drive for Diversity program during the 2009 season.
K&N Development Driver Caitlin Shaw selected to participate in NASCAR Drive for Diversity
The Drive for Diversity program has supported 22 different drivers in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series and NASCAR Camping World Series since it began in 2004. The goal of the program is to develop minority and female drivers to participate in all levels and capacities of NASCAR.
“It was a great opportunity to be able to compete,” said Shaw. “I am very fortunate.” The three day program consisted of media training, interview, on track test sessions and qualifying laps.
Shaw competed against 24 other drivers in front of NASCAR, Access Marketing and 14 teams in attendance. They will review each of the drivers and make their selections on the 2009 Drive for Diversity line up based on all aspects of the competition.
“I’m also a big believer in K&N products,” said Shaw. “I’ve used K&N filters for years. K&N makes the best products out there. We get excellent filtration and our expensive engines are protected from track debris.”
Shaw races full midgets in the USAC National Series. Her goal is to drive in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series then move on to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
