East coast and west coast drivers met in Missouri to battle it out for the coveted title of Grand National Champion. “Being a part of this sport as well as being in the top ranks among drivers like Shannon Campbell, Jason Paule and Jesse Haines is a great feeling,” said Cody Waggoner. “The top five competitors were all from the west coast.”

On the first day of competition bad weather kept the ground wet. The mud made it very interesting and challenging for the rock crawlers. Each course had technical elements that challenged every driver.

Saturday night the rain returned and really soaked the ground. “This made the courses extra challenging,” said Lindsay Waggoner. “There are always a couple of cones that the drivers miss, but the slippery rocks made it even harder for the teams.”

The sun returned by Sunday and the pressure was on to grab bonus points in the Shoot Out. Brad Styles put on the pressure by tackling the bonus hill climb. He set the bar for the rest of the competition.

“This was a steep hill climb and we needed a lot of throttle to get up on top,” said Waggoner. “Unless you found the perfect line and hit it just right, you had to take a couple of tries at it.” Each driver made it through the course with extra time to spare.

“Our K&N air filter gave us more horsepower than ever on our engine,” said Waggoner. “Our rebuilt motor with K&N was strong and powerful and worked with ease on the course.”

Team Waggoner’s moon buggy will be on display at the Off-Road Expo in Pomona, California from October 3-5. The entire Team Waggoner Racing team will also be there throughout the weekend.
