Their Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX lost time early in the event because of a blown-off boost pipe. The team managed to get back on track for a strong second place podium finish when another problem occurred. They struck a muddy dip in the road at top speed and were forced to retire from the race with an overheated engine.

“The season is not over yet,” said Comrie-Picard. “We have had a difficult few races in Canada, but we’re still in a great position in the championship both here, and in the United States.”

The Rallye Defi was a grueling event that claimed many front-runners, including the series’ defending champion. Only half of the starters crossed the finish line.

“The Mitsubishi performed beautifully,” said Comrie-Picard. “After the beating it took at the X Games, it’s a real testament to the Evo’s durability and performance.”

Comrie-Picard is running a busy 2008 Rally Racing Season. With only two events remaining in the Rally America Championship, he is second overall, just behind Subaru U.S.A. driver Travis Pastrana.

Team ACP Rally uses K&N Filters on their vehicles. “I’ve used K&N since I began Rally racing ten years ago,” said Comrie-Picard. “We compete under tough conditions, with dust, mud and water splashes. We do the most extreme things we can do in a car and K&N is the perfect formula for our turbo charged motors. There is no compromise with K&N.”

Comrie-Picard will next compete for Mitsubishi Canada in a new Evolution X at the seventh annual Targa Newfoundland. The week-long endurance event will take place from September 13-20.
