Pedersen had Crump beaten until they clashed in the second semi-final. “Jason made a move of true brilliance in the first half-lap of the final,” said Crump’s media relations manager Roy Stone. “Initially Nicki appeared to be in control when he forced Tomasz aside during the race. Jason then cut-back off turn two and sliced between his rivals up the back straight.” Crump then led all the way to the checkered flag.

Crump, a double World Grand Prix champion only bumped up by one point of his overall series lead. “This was a great win for me,” said Crump. “With only three rounds remaining in the series I will have my work cut out for me. It’s all about consistency and at the moment there is only one rider that has been a little more consistent than me, but my memory is not short. I hope to turn the tables and snatch the World Championship in the final round.”

Crump has used K&N air filters for 13 years. “K&N makes the best air filter on the market,” he said. “K&N keeps the dirt out of my engines and I can depend on extra filtration under extreme track conditions.”

The next round of the World Championship will take place at Bydgoszcz in Poland on September 13.
