Xtreme Off Road Racers Dominate XRRA Cortez with Fabtech Ford Ranger

The fastest Xtreme Off-Road racer (XRRA) in Cortez, Colorado was K&N sponsored Fabtech driver Brad Lovell.

Team Lovell’s No. 32 Ford Ranger started the difficult race course near the front of the pack. “That’s not really a good spot because it’s easier to learn about a course by watching the other racers go through it first,” said Roger Lovell. “We had two quick runs which resulted in a  better spot in the running order. That meant we had enough time to review the runs before the start of the next run.”

The competitors all faced a single hill that was extremely technical. “It was apparent that the race would be won or lost on that hill,” said Lovell. “Piano sized boulders shifted under our tires. There was also a bottomless bed of loose dirt between each rock.”

Team Lovell put their rock crawling experience to work and Brad shot up the rock and took the lead in his Ford Ranger. "The course was brutal,” said Roger Lovell. “We tested the durability of the FABTECH Ranger with K&N Engineering products in many new ways on that difficult hill.”

Brad led the race with smart clean driving and took the victory. His main competition, Brian Shirley attempted

the hill several times with problems and Shannon Campbell broke down because of the hill.

“K&N air filters kept the debris out of our engines and prevented our sensors from clogging up,” said Lovell. “There is also a slight taper on the product that gives us the clearance and flexibility we need on these difficult courses.”

“We were fast and consistent,” said Lovell. “But what put us over the top was creativity and teamwork.” Team Lovell only has two events left in the WE-Rock Series this season. Next up will be the Grand Nationals in Hannibal, Missouri on September 5-7.
