Every race fan wants to connect with their favorite driver, but when a young driver meets one of his track heroes, that hero can also find a special connection. In the world of the Grand Prix Motorcycle Racing, two-time World Speedway Champion Jason Crump met 10-year-old two-time British Junior Champion Jack Cornes.  Besides having British Championship titles, both share the same initials, JC.

Jason asked Jack about his racing and about his bikes. He also autographed a picture of himself with Jack after the Cardiff British Grand Prix. “Jack has a very bright future as a racer,” said Jason Crump. “With two British Championships to his name already, he will definitely end up as one of Great Britain’s best riders.”

Crump remembers when he was only 10-years-old and went to the track to meet World Champions. His father, Phil Crump was racing at that time. Jason entered the sport full-time at 16-years-old. Sixteen years later Jason Crump has won 17 Grand Prix, an under 21 World Championship when he was only 19, and two individual Grand Prix World Championships in 2004 and 2006.

The young champion and the experienced champion both use K&N Engineering products. “We use K&N air and oil filters on every one of our race bikes,” said Andrew Cornes, patriarch of Cornes Boys Racing. “K&N has proved to be the best filters for our racing and we recommend them to anyone thinking about racing. They are easy to use, easy to fit, easy to clean and long lasting.”

Crump has used K&N Engineering products during his entire racing career. “K&N makes the best filter on the market,” he said. “Under extreme track conditions K&N keeps the dirt out of my engines. I can also depend on extra filtration and additional horsepower every time I race.”

Jack recently won the ACU British Junior 200cc Championship for the second consecutive year at the Leamington Victory club in Warwickshire, England. He and his brother Max have won many youth titles over the past three years. The brothers, from Knutsford in Cheshire race about every weekend during the season and every Monday night at Belle Vue Speedway. Cornes Boys Racing also races throughout Europe and recently competed in the French Tayac in the International 125 cc class.

Crump’s current schedule is full of race meetings in England, Sweden and Poland. The World Team Cup is about to start where the top 8 countries in the world face off for the World Cup. The USA, Australia, Great Britain, Poland Sweden, Denmark, Russia and Hungry are the top eight.

“The atmosphere is electric and the racing is very close at the Grand Prix,” said Andrew Cornes. “The stadium is filled with spectators who shout for their favorite riders. Grand Prix racing is great.”

“One of the most important parts of racing is the fans,” said Crump. “Without them racing would be meaningless.” Crump always takes time to meet the fans and signs autographs. The Australian racer is very family orientated, so is the Cornes family.

Both racers are connected in more ways the one, including their relationships with K&N Engineering.
