2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 Tested by K&N and Hot Rod Magazine
The 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 is a retro-styled muscle car drawing inspiration from its 1970's look. K&N Engineering teamed up with Hot Rod Magazine to take an exclusive look at the power behind this impressive piece of American muscle.

K&N and Hot Rod Magazine benefitted from a mutual partnership that allowed each party access to this never before seen vehicle as well as crucial horsepower testing on K&N’s in house dynamometers. “We came to K&N because they have several state of the art dyno facilities,” Jerry Pitt Editorial Director of Hot Rod Magazine said. “We know we can rely on the horsepower numbers provided by K&N.”

The 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 received a significant horsepower boost with K&N.
K&N frequently tests vehicles not yet available to the public. “This is one way that we stay ahead of the curve and have products ready for a vehicle as soon as it’s on the market,” said Bert Heck, K&N Engineering’s Performance Kit Manager. “Our customers are always impressed by how quickly we can release products for new vehicles.”
Testing with this 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 showed an impressive 14 horsepower peak increase once a K&N drop in panel air filter was installed.
Heck also took the testing a step further and installed a K&N air intake system on the Challenger’s engine. The resulting dyno run showed an astonishing 30 horsepower peak gain.
“I think that the numbers produced are better than what we expected,” Pitt said. “What this tells me is that it is easy to make performance modifications on this car.” The 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 will be featured in the August 2008 issue of Hot Rod Magazine. For more information see our
