Crump was only able to get an inside starting position two times after six rides. He only had ten points after a series of tough races and the hard-charging Australian was disappointed with his results.

“I only managed two points from my first two rides so the going was tough right from the start,” said Crump. “I didn’t give up and I pulled in seven more points over the next three rides and secured a place in the semi-finals.”

The track conditions were tough because of the rain. “The wet weather made any chance of winning from the outside impossible,” he said. “ There was no where to go. Hopefully I’ll get a better position for the draw in my next series race.”

Crump uses K&N Engineering products. “I’ve used K&N air filters my whole career and will continue using K&N,” he said. “I can always count on K&N to keep my engine running even under the worst track conditions. The mud does not affect my engine.”

Poland’s Tomasz Gollob took the win for a total of 19 points in round one of the 2008 World Championship Standings. Round two of the 2008 Speedway Grand Prix World Championship Series moves to Leszno in Poland on Saturday May 10.
