World Challenge GT fans were treated to another close race at the Streets of Long Beach. Die hard crowds packed the stands over the 1.9 mile Long Beach, California street course where the racing is always close and the crashes heavy. Impacts with 10,000 lb. concrete blocks were never more than inches away for the thirty cars and drivers.

Team Remington Cadillac driver Andy Pilgrim gained a second podium finish in his No. 8 Remington Cadillac CTS-V with K&N Engineering products. Pilgrim came in 3rd and holds on to a close third place overall in the points championship series. The SCCA SPEED World Challenge is a production based road racing series. Several manufacturers compete in sprint format road racing.

“This is the third year the GT cars have raced at Long Beach,” said Pilgrim. “It’s a tough place to race for us. We drive the heaviest cars in the series and threading the needle between the concrete walls is tough.”

Team Remington Cadillac driver Michael McCann started 10th and battled a failing gearbox to finish at 15th. “I had a tough race but I learned a lot by having to battle a broken transmission and still bring it home to get some useful series points,” he said. “Both Andy and I have race cars that are ready for the next race in Salt Lake City in May. A lot of our competitors’ cars are facing major damage from these Long Beach Streets.”

With Pilgrim going to the next race third in Drivers Championship points and McCann at 11th, Team Remington Cadillac is currently second over all in the Manufacturer Championship points.

The Long Beach race will be televised on SPEED-TV Wednesday, April 30 at noon ET.
