Rain plagued the 2008 season-opener, but the TRC Cadillac CTS-V race cars had the second row on the grid covered at the start of the race. Driver Michael McCann started in third place and Andy Pilgrim started in fourth.

Monsoon conditions for the second year in a row determined the outcome of the race. “Rain started to fall just as we were getting lined up for the formation lap,” said McCann. “With all the horsepower in the GT cars, we knew the race would be decided by strategy, driving smart and a good dose of luck.”

Pilgrim, the 2005 season Drivers’ Champion said the conditions were the worse he’d ever seen at Sebring. “Everyone knows this Florida track is tough when it’s wet,” he said. “It’s because of the bad drainage and the mix of old and new surfaces.”

Both McCann and Pilgrim worked their way through the 30 car field by avoiding many accidents and damaged cars. “The accidents reduced the race to only a few laps of green flag racing,” said Pilgrim. “But Mike and I played our cards right and we have two intact cars ready to go to Long Beach.”
