Brown is no stranger to the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge GT series. He has 44 starts in his professional career including 24 top tens and 11 top five finishes. In Vancouver’s Street Race, he took a career high finish of 2nd place after leading the first half. A broken transmission took him away from the title.

Brown’s new K&N 997 GT3 will be prepped by 911 Design in Montclair, California. “The guys at 911 Design have been great to work with and have been focused on bringing me up to speed on the GT3,” he said. “With the automotive powerhouses of K&N Filters and Eibach Springs behind us and the technical support of ERP Suspension, this could be an exciting year.”

Brown entered his first race at age 17 and ran his first profession race at age 23. His first job in pro racing was working with the Saleen Autosport race team in 1986. They swept all four categories in the Escort Endurance Series Championship in 1987. That series evolved into the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge.

Brown has competed against some of the best drivers in road racing. “I’m very excited about returning to World Challenge,” he said. “This is where I cut my teeth in road racing, so it’s like coming home.” Brown’s only previous start at Sebring came as a last minute substitute for an injured racer. “I literally jumped into a Corvette as it rolled onto the track for the presentation lap,” he said. “I managed to charge from 31st to a 15th place finish.” Brown did not practice, nor had he driven the 3.7 mile track before.

Off the track, Brown manages one of the largest and most successful race shops and retail outlets in the Midwest. He also has mechanical knowledge of the cars he drives and has used K&N his entire career.

“I’ve known Paul for years and he is nothing short of 100 percent focused on driving and being great at it,” said K&N Engineering Sports Marketing Director Charles Maier. “He is a man of integrity in business and simply does what he says he will. When this opportunity came to partner up with Paul, I knew that he would be a good ambassador to K&N in an area of motorsport that we have not been so active in as of late. Personally, I love road racing and feel that we, as a company, need to continue to mine out solid relationships in this category of motorsports. We wish Paul and Tiger Racing all the best at the season opener, Sebring.”

The No. 96 Porsche will carry K&N’s signature colors at Sebring. Gates open in Florida on the third week in March and remain open for 24 hours a day through Saturday. Sebring is America’s Le Mans, and there is no other tradition like it in North America.
