This race gives one grade point to all participants towards national event entries. However, no points apply to the regular NHRA season. Racers need to earn five grade points or more during division races to enter national events. One grade point will be earned per entry at The Strip.

Stock/Super Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street and Top Sportsman/Dragster pay $2,500 to win and the runner up gets $1,000. Each class winner will receive an NHRA event Wally. K&N Filters will also give a free case of K&N oil filters to the winner and runner up of each sportsman class.

K&N air flow engineer and NHRA top comp class driver Jonathan Fiello will participate in the Las Vegas Motor Speedway race. Fiello runs K&N’s valve covered breather filters, K&N nozzle filters and K&N oil filters. “K&N oil filters have a lot of features that satisfy the demands of racers,” said Fiello. “The heavy duty construction and a sturdy one-inch wrench nut make oil filter removal quick and easy. We just jack the car up and plop it off, it's taken me as little as three minutes..”

There is also a Pontiac Pro Stock Showdown which is a winner-take-all race paying $5,000- to- win. All NHRA pro stock rules will apply to the showdown and the top 16 qualifiers from Friday earn a position on the Pro Stock ladder.
