K&N’s Gary Scelzi and Jerry Coons, Jr. are two high-profile drivers who are ready to battle it out for the win and the bonus. Scelzi is a four-time NHRA POWERade champion but will go after the Chili Bowl win in Oklahoma in a K&N Filters midget. Most of the season the K&N Filters midget is piloted by 17-year-old Michael Faccinto, but Scelzi plans to make the most of the NHRA off-season in the car he owns.

Jerry Coons Jr. is seeking his first Chili Bowl Nationals championship. Coons scored his second straight USAC Midget championship with K&N products in 2007. Other K&N sponsored drivers at the Chili Bowl are: Darrin Bolton of El Dorado Hills, California; Chad Kemenah of Alvada, Ohio; Bud Kaeding of Campbell, California; Garrett Hood of Concordia, Kansas; Terry McCarl of Altoona, Iowa; Billy Wease of Noblesville, Indiana; C.J Sarna of Palm Desert, California; John Sarna of Palm Desert, California; Ryan Kaplan of Chico, California; Chad Boat of Phoenix, Arizona; Randy Hannagan of Pittsboro, Indiana; Jason Meyers of Clovis, California; Cory Kruseman of Ventura, California; Brad Kuhn of Avon, Indiana.

At least 285 midget cars will compete for the win. The action begins in the QuikTrip Center on January 8 with practice and will end with the Bass Pro Shops Pre-Qualifying event at 7:00 p.m. The Chili Bowl concludes with a 50 lap main event on January 12.
