Bayou Boyz family racers Britt and Slate Cummings closed their 2007 season with the team's best NHRA finishes to date. Britt won his first two NHRA victories in Super Comp in the Jeg’s Sportsnationals at No Problem Raceway in Louisiana and finished the season with a victory at Thunder Valley Raceway Park in Pennsylvania.

Those two victories, along with a strong season, earned Cummings a top ten national finish in the Super Comp category. Slate Cummings raced in five NHRA Lucas Oil Division Series final rounds in 2007 and earned runner up finishes in Super Stock at Houston, Texas and Shreveport, Louisiana. With several consistent late round finishes, Slate joined his brother Britt in the NHRA Super Comp Top Ten, finishing in seventh position nationally.

Slate and Britt run two completely different setups in Super Comp. Britt’s car has a conventional head 555, from Reher & Morrison. “I run 8.90 at about 168 mph, like the majority of racers in the class,” said Britt Cummings. “Slate’s motor is on the other end of the spectrum. It’s a 565 from Reher & Morrison, but it’s an all-aluminum motor with 12 degree heads. He runs 8.90 at 186 mph. Both our motors have been flawless all season.”

Cummings Motorsports is a family business from Hammond, Louisiana. “Bayou Boyz Racing has ten cars,” said Cummings. “We use K&N Engineering Air and Oil Filters on all our vehicles. With K&N I’m faster and very consistent and the filters never give us a problem.”

“We’ve had a strong year,” said Britt Cummings. “We could always look back and say it would have been great to win this round here, or that round there. I feel like we made our mark on NHRA racing this season, which is something we’ve wanted to do for some time. We struggled at the NHRA races last season, for a lot of reasons. I feel like we’ve got the ship righted now, and we really look forward to building upon the 2007 season with a run at the championship in 2008.”
