Carlson’s teammate Darryl Atkins broke his left arm a few weeks before and Team Aprilia brought in replacement riders. Henry Wiles and French Supermoto pro Kevin Bethome earned points for the team. Wiles rode to 6th place in Saturday’s final and Bethome did the same. Factory Aprilia had enough points to win the team championship over factory KTM by one point.

“It was an almost perfect season for the team,” said Atkins. “Apart from my mishap we are really happy that Benny won the riders championship and that Kevin and Henry captured the points we needed to win the teams championship.”

Team Aprilia’s winning resume is as follows:

Ben Carlson is the 2007 AMA Supermoto Unlimited Champion

Factory Aprilia Rip It Energy Fuel is the 2007 AMA Supermoto Unlimited Team Champion

Darryl Atkins 6th place in the 2007 Supermoto Unlimited (Atkins had runner up position prior to his injury)

“All of this would not have been possible without everyone’s support,” said Atkins. “We use K&N air and oil filters on the track. We get additional power and performance with K&N.”
