In an effort to keep the silt under control, race officials poured a lot of water on the track to make it muddy. “The mud made it slippery and a lot of people went down,” said Templeman. “The turns were fun because I felt like I was racing on a flat track with the rear end sliding out while having to steer into the skids around the turns.”

Templeman executed a couple of nice passes. “I went back and forth with one other competitor for a while,” he said. “Unfortunately he nearly crashed in front of me in a turn and I went down to avoid running him over. I struggled after that to find neutral and get it started again. The good news is I had more fun after that incident because I wasn’t sitting on someone’s rear tire getting mud shot in my face.”

Lake Elsinore was Templeman’s first official dirt bike race. “I’ve been riding ATVs and dirt bikes for 23 years, and have used K&N products for the past ten years.” he said.   "Overall, it was a good race since there were two waves that started before me, including intermediates, novices and the 250-500 cc classes.”

Templeman uses K&N air and oil filters in his tow vehicle. “K&N gives me the power I need to get to the track,” he said. “I wouldn’t use anything else on my vehicles.”

Templeman’s next race will be in February at the Adelanto Grand Prix.
