K&N Engineering Releases New Series Of Air Filters for Racing Scoops
RIVERSIDE, CA - Racers have known for many years that their engines can make as much or even more power when equipped with a K&N FilterCharger® versus no air filter at all. K&N's unique filter construction of layers of oiled cotton-gauze and epoxy-coated aluminum wire mesh offers virtually no restriction and "straightens" incoming air, reducing turbulent flow into the carburetor or air meter. Unfortunately, racers using snorkel-style air scoops have had few options for quality filtration to protect their valuable engines - there simply hasn't been an easy way to install a K&N filter into the scoop.
Long known for their innovations in filtration and air intake systems, K&N has engineered a solution and is proud to add two new styles of air filters for snorkel-type air scoops for drag racing to their line. These new filters complement the cone filters K&N already offers in several sizes for popular Formula Atlantic and Super Vee-style racers. The drag race filters have been designed to fit specific scoops. A K&N oval filter fits the popular Harwood 3153 scoop. It has a dual-element design for maximum airflow and protection from dirt and debris. This filter mounts just inside the front lip of the scoop and is held in place by Dzus fasteners. The second drag race model fits the QuarterMax RJF1 round-style air inlets and features a dual-element design.
K&N racing cone filters for Formula cars are designed and sized to fit specific racecars, including Lola, Vestal, Tiga, Ralt and Swift. They fit inside the scoop and have a small hole that allows debris to exit through the back end of the scoop. Used by top race teams, these K&N cone filters are an important factor in increasing engine durability and ensuring peak performance through the entire race and K&N FilterCharger® filters can be repeatedly cleaned and re-oiled with a K&N recharger kit.
