California Asphalt Sprintcar Association Best in the West Crown for Ryan Kaplan

K&N sponsored Ryan Kaplan is the new CASA/USAC Best in the West Champion. His Madera, California victory added to a nearly flawless season in the California Asphalt Sprintcar Association series. Kaplan had 460 of a possible 480 points toward the championship.

Kaplan entered the race at Madera knowing he needed a top three finish to secure the win. “We got the car dialed in and that helped us go out and get the fast time for qualifying,” he said. “We made some minor adjustments and were able to come from seventh place to finish second. We had high hopes for the main where we started fourth row outside.”

At the drop of the green, Kaplan started to go forward and found himself on the leader’s bumper only fifteen laps into the 50 lap A-main. “I ended up finishing in second place but had enough points to lock in the CASA/USAC Best in the West Championship.”

Kaplan said he was very excited when he crossed the finish line. “I won this championship in my rookie year of sprint car racing,” he said. “We use all of the K&N products because they are by far the best on the market. By using K&N Carbon Airboxes and Oil Filters it brings our engine to life and gives us the power we need to win races.”

Kaplan’s next race will be the Turkey Night Grand Prix and he said he has every intention of taking home the USAC Championship. “We are also leading the USAC Western states Pavement Sprint Car Championship and Rookie of the Year points by 38 going into the last race at Irwindale Speedway on Thanksgiving Day.” said Kaplan. “I want to thank K&N Engineering for sponsoring me.”
