Sportsman drag racers Brian Folk, his brother Nick and father Ron went to the final IHRA Pro-Am Series event of the 2007 season at Osceola Dragway in Indiana with victory on their minds.

The goal was national and divisional titles for the Folk Family Racing Team, but an old saying seemed to sum up the racing weekend for the Folks; for every failure, there is an opportunity.

The weekend did not get off to a good start. Brian Folk wounded the engine in his Folk Race Cars Super Rod Cavalier during Friday night’s testing.

“We just finished a Camaro Roadster at our Folk Race Cars shop,” said Brian Folk. “We built the car completely in house, from the tubing rack to the final wiring and assembly. We tested it the week before the race and we put it up for sale. I had such a good year in the Cavalier we decided to leave the roadster at home. After I tore up the Cavalier I asked my buddy to bring the car down to us. He drove all night so I’d have something to race in Super Rod.”

The untried Camaro was just the opportunity the Folk Racing Team needed. Brian Folk secured the Division 5 Super Rod crown with back-to-back victories during the two-day event. He is now in contention for the Super Rod World Championship, within a few rounds of leader Steve Furr.

“It’s unbelievable,” said Folk. “The car worked flawlessly. I was so fortunate in the roadster. I’m so proud of all the guys in the shop. Our K&N Oil Filters go above and beyond any other filter on the market. The filtration is great and debris from the track stays out of our engines.”

As Brian dominated the Super Rod Field, the rest of the Folk family had a great showing at Osceola. Nick Folk clinched the Division 4 Stock Eliminator championship and family patriarch Ron Folk took home an IHRA Iron Man with the Sunday win in Quick Rod.

“When it’s all said and done it was a great weekend for us,” said Folk. “Now Nick and I have a chance nationally.”
