A new Land Speed Record was set by Falkner Livingston Racing at the historic El
Mirage Dry Lake in Southern California on July 16th.
The Falkner Livingston Team attended the S.C.T.A. event with their Cycle Barn
Kawasaki ZX-14. The goal was to test the motorcycle in preparation for
Bonneville Speed Week in August.

Rider Paul Livingston set a new record on the 1.3 mile course with a top
timed speed of 187.247 mph for the 1650cc Production /Production class. “The
stock Kawasaki ZX-14 motorcycle is well suited for Land Speed Racing from its
aero body down to its Bridgeston Battlax tires,” said Livingston. “After Race
Tech tuned the suspension we added the DynoJet Power Commander and K&N
Engineering Filters and we were able to go straight to the track. It was a bonus
to break the record.”
“It was at least 110 degrees the day we set the record,” said Assistant Team
Manager Becca Livingston. “We were able to get maximum performance with K&N
Filters in those temperatures.”
The goal for the event was to take the motorcycle through tech inspection and
make a shake down run at the higher desert altitudes with a very stock tune.
“The strength and speed of the engine became apparent immediately,” said Team
principal Rod Falkner. “We were pleased to see this since S.C.T.A. rules require
the 1352cc engine to run in the 1650cc class.”
