The diesel trucks that use this K&N air intake are working trucks. There is a specially designed lid that goes on top of the heat shield to create a full air box. The
63-3066
adds power and performance as it protects the engine from harmful dirt and
debris.
The factory intake tube and factory air filter are restrictive. K&N gained the additional horsepower by removing the factory inlet tube and factory air box and replacing it with the bigger and smoother K&N air intake system.
The new air intake system pulls air through a washable K&N cone shaped air filter (RC-5177) which increases airflow and filtering capacity. The powder coated steel heat shield isolates and protects the K&N air filter from engine heat. The result is
virtually unrestricted cooler
outside air entering the engine for an immediate power gain.
