Damen Jefferies piloted his K&N Engineering Herman Motorsports No. 22 Trophy
Truck to a third place finish at the 14th annual SCORE Laughlin Desert
Challenge. The motor sports event has attracted enthusiasts, fans and racers
from the United States, Mexico and Europe for more than a decade.

K&N Engineering Herman Motorsports No. 22 Trophy Truck
Seventeen Pro classes along with two Sportsman classes of desert racers and trucks
competed in the four day off-road racing event at the Laughlin Events Park in
Nevada. The K&N Engineering sponsored racer is off to a great start for the
six-race 2008 SCORE International off-road race season.
Jefferies had a third place finish at the SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge
San Felipe 250 at Baja is up next for Jefferies and the K&N Trophy Truck
“Laughlin was a very unique race,” said Jefferies. “We had two days of racing.
Each day consisted of eight laps on the 6.25-mile course on harsh terrain.”
On Sunday the rain came down most of the day, which made the course extremely
muddy. “I can’t complain, there was no dust all weekend,” said Jefferies. “We
got third which is really good because our truck is suited for the technical
terrain in Baja. Laughlin is a great race and we didn’t have any problems.”
Jefferies No. 22 Trophy Truck has independent rear suspension with one wheel
drive, which makes the big corners at Laughlin difficult. Consistent air flow,
low maintenance, durability and superior filtration are critical in desert
races. The K&N trophy truck uses a K&N designed air induction system as well as
a K&N performance oil filter which provides Jefferies with the power and
protection he requires for racing.
Jefferies next race is the San Felipe 250 at Baja in March.
